Not Your Average Pancake

A new location of a popular LA spot, Breakfast by Salt's Cure has taken the West Village by storm. Nestled on the corner of Morton and Bedford, this restaurant is the perfect casual breakfast spot. Not to mention, the location makes for great people watching. This is the type of place you're going to want to sit for hours sipping coffee and fresh squeezed OJ long after you've finished eating. There are no reservations and you order at the counter and take your number to find an open table. Be prepared to wait in a line at peak times on the weekend.

The menu is centered around the oatmeal griddle cakes...and for good reason. Super thin and crispy on the edges with a warm and soft center; these pancakes are something special. They come in many flavors: the OG (my personal favorite), blueberry, chocolate chip, banana and apple. The griddle cakes each come with their own toppings, but don't expect any of those to be maple syrup. Instead, you can find walnuts, brown sugar, flax seed. Or, if you order my favorite, the OG, you will get a generous dollop of toasted cinnamon sugar butter. So. Good.
So: the OG griddle cakes are a must order, but what else?

In my opinion, the combo platters are also a great way to try a few things. They have the classic which comes with two griddle cakes of your choice, sausage (pork, chicken or chickpea) and two eggs scrambled or fried. This is what I usually go for. If you can, bring a friend and have them order "The Sunday," which comes with griddle cakes and chicken schnitzel. SO good and pairs so perfectly. It's like fried chicken and waffles...but better.
All in all, this spot is a definite keeper. The casual atmosphere, delicious food and adorable location make Breakfast by Salt's Cure a perfect weekend breakfast spot!
